PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) has added two Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane (RTG) Hybrid Full Battery units at Kijing Terminal to increase container handling capacity, following the terminal’s first successful export shipment.
The two RTGs manufactured by Sany, shipped directly from China, arrived at Kijing Terminal’s berth aboard the MV BILLIE on 4 July 2026.

The units, each with a Safe Working Load (SWL) of 41 tonnes, are currently being unloaded ahead of assembly and preparation for terminal operations.
Yanto, General Manager of PT Pelindo Regional 2 Pontianak, said: “The presence of these battery-based hybrid RTGs is part of our efforts to modernise equipment at Kijing Terminal while supporting more efficient and environmentally friendly port operations. With this additional facility, the terminal’s service capacity is expected to increase further as logistics, export and import activity grows in West Kalimantan.”
Beyond the equipment upgrade, Kijing Terminal is also preparing for higher vessel traffic. On 8 July 2026, the terminal is scheduled to receive two further vessels from PT Pulau Laut Line: BG.MMSS 2711, operating the Pasir Gudang–Kijing–ICA–Kijing–Pasir Gudang route, and MV.WGM 256T, serving the Jakarta–Kijing–Jakarta route.
For terminal operators tracking capacity build-out across Indonesia’s secondary gateways, the arrivals signal growing logistics activity through Kijing, with the increasingly active shipping lanes expected to strengthen trade connectivity for both domestic distribution and international export markets.
Pelindo said it remains confident that investment in modern equipment will improve operational efficiency, accelerate loading and unloading processes, and expand the terminal’s service capacity in support of West Kalimantan’s economic growth.
Yanto added: “Following the success of our first export shipment some time ago, we continue to strengthen supporting facilities at Kijing Terminal. The arrival of these two Hybrid Full Battery RTG units forms part of Pelindo’s investment to increase service capacity, speed up the container loading and unloading process, and deliver more modern, efficient and environmentally friendly port operations.
“The equipment is currently being unloaded and will then be prepared until ready for operation. With the scheduled arrival of vessels from PT Pulau Laut Line on 8 July, we are optimistic that container service activity at Kijing Terminal will continue to grow and make a positive contribution to smooth logistics flows and export-import activity in West Kalimantan.”
