The concessions cover the container and general cargo terminals, with their 30-year terms beginning in 1998.
APM Terminals, part of A.P. Moller-Maersk, holds a 30 percent stake in the operating company. The port’s shareholder information confirms that APM Terminals operates and manages the facility, while Asyad Group holds 20 per cent.
The company also has separate management agreements with APM Terminals.
The board will examine the notification and assess its implications and potential impact on the business. The company also plans to engage with relevant stakeholders where appropriate.
Further material developments will be communicated to the market in accordance with applicable disclosure requirements.
The announcement, signed by Board Chairman Braik Musallam Al Amri, gave no reason for the non-extension and provided no details of arrangements beyond the expiry date.
