Kaleris, a global leader in supply chain execution software, announced the acquisition of Newport Systems Inc. (NSI), a category-leading provider of maintenance and repair (M&R) and depot management software. The combination creates the industry’s only end-to-end M&R platform, connecting the full asset lifecycle across marine terminals, inland depots, rail terminals, equipment owners and repair providers on a single operating model.
Maintenance and repair remain one of the least automated workflows in global logistics. Estimates, approvals, exceptions and invoices still move between equipment owners and repair providers through manual, document-driven processes, with the same information rekeyed into multiple systems along the way. Equipment sits idle while decisions wait. By automating those connections on a single platform, Kaleris replaces a manual, multi-day exchange with a system-driven workflow, returning assets to service faster and giving both sides a shared, auditable record of every decision.

With the addition of Newport, Kaleris now offers a continuous through-line for asset lifecycle management, from terminal discharge through inland distribution, repair and return to service. The combined platform is the only solution that spans the full intermodal ecosystem and the full range of assets, including containers, chassis, reefers, gensets and railcars, under a common M&R operating model.
Newport brings deep expertise in maintenance and repair operations, along with pre-trip inspection workflows, reefer monitoring, genset management and temperature monitoring, extending Kaleris’ reach across the most demanding segments of the supply chain. The acquisition strengthens Kaleris’ position in the intermodal market, adding M&R capabilities that complement its market-leading solutions for terminal operations, transportation and yard management, and data exchange.

Central to the acquisition is Newport’s network of proprietary carrier and equipment-owner integrations, including 25 live EDI integrations and deep connectivity with shipping lines, leasing companies and equipment owners. Built over more than 20 years of industry relationships, this network represents a structural advantage that is difficult and time-consuming to replicate.
