Konecranes has received an order from Port Otago Limited for ten hybrid Konecranes Noell Straddle Carriers equipped with twin-lift spreaders and the full Konecranes Noell Fleet Management System. The order was booked in June 2026 and is delivered by the end of August, 2027.
Port Otago is a key gateway for international trade in the southern region of New Zealand’s South Island. The straddle carriers will be used for handling import and export ISO containers, supporting efficient container operations at the port and future terminal developments.

The order includes ten hybrid Konecranes Noell Straddle Carriers with twin-lift spreaders. Delivered fully assembled, they offer a 60-tonne lifting capacity, can stack containers four-high, and are fitted with four driven wheels. The twin-lift spreaders can handle either two 20-foot containers or one 40-foot container, supporting flexible and efficient container handling operations. Also included is the complete Konecranes Noell Fleet Management System, providing comprehensive telemetry and operational data across the fleet.
The hybrid technology will help Port Otago improve operational performance while reducing fuel consumption compared with its existing diesel fleet. Combined with advanced fleet management capabilities, the solution will support data-driven decision making, fleet-wide performance analysis and efficient equipment utilisation.
