The Board of Directors of the Port Authority of València (PAV) has approved an update to its Environmental and Energy Policy to align it with its Strategic Plan 2035 and Net Zero Plan, reinforcing its commitment to decarbonisation. Through this strategy, Valenciaport aims to strengthen its role as a key facilitator of more sustainable and efficient global logistics supply chains.
To this end, the APV is committed to maintaining an environmental and energy management system that not only embeds sustainable management responsibilities across its entire organisation but also seeks to extend this ethical commitment to all companies operating within the public domain under its management, while engaging customers, suppliers and other stakeholders across the port and logistics sector.

Thus, in addition to promoting decarbonisation to address climate change, supporting the energy transition, advancing the circular economy and fostering the protection of biodiversity, the PAV is committed to periodically analysing and evaluating the organisation’s activities, products and services that may interact with the environment, in order to identify and manage the associated environmental risks.
The prevention and minimisation of environmental impacts is another objective of this updated Environmental and Energy Policy, together with the provision of training and information to port staff. Valenciaport will also assess the impact of port activities by calculating its carbon footprint and will encourage the active involvement of all stakeholders in the energy transition of the port system.
A Second Substation to Meet the Power Demand of the Port of València
As part of this commitment to promoting decarbonisation, the Board of Directors has also approved the delegation of the necessary procedures to the Chair of the Port Authority to launch the tender process for the construction of a new substation. The project has a budget of €15.6 million and is co-financed by the European Commission through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
This new infrastructure will make it possible to double the port’s power capacity and represents a decisive step towards maximum operational reliability and environmental sustainability.
Marina de Valencia
The Board of Directors has also approved an agreement with the City Council of València for the establishment of a training and development centre for recreational boating and water sports at La Marina, on the site currently occupied by the Sailing School. The purpose of the agreement is to regulate the public, sporting, educational and social use of a flagship centre at the Port for training and high-performance development in water sports, as well as for the promotion of adaptive sports for people with disabilities and programmes focused on inclusion and sustainability.
Furthermore, following the proposal submitted by the Evaluation Committee for the “Public tender for the award of an administrative concession for the occupation of port public domain for the establishment of a technology and innovation business centre for entrepreneurship, offices, training and events in EFO 16 Building at La Marina de València”, the Board of Directors has selected the bid submitted by VALENCIA INNOVATION DISTRICT.
The Board of Directors has also authorised a non-substantial amendment to the administrative concession held by MARINA PORT VALENCIA, consisting of the extension of the concession area by 6,200 square metres of land in the Marina Sur access road area, adjacent to the commercial port.
Upgrades to the Sagunto Fish Farm Facilities
On another note, approval has been granted for a substantial amendment to the administrative concession for the occupation of port public domain held by BERSOLAZ SPAIN at the Port of Sagunto. The amendment authorises the extension of the water area by 39,785 square metres to carry out the second phase of the project for the modernisation, relocation and expansion of the aquaculture facilities dedicated to the farming seabream, seabass and meagre.
