The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) recently confirmed that the Singapore-registered container vessel ‘Ever Lovely’ was struck by an unknown projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on 25 June at around 22:00 Singapore Time. The vessel sustained minor damage to its bridge area.
The vessel has since completed its passage through the Strait of Hormuz and continued its voyage.

All 21 crew members onboard are reported safe. There are no Singaporean nationals among the crew.
The MPA stated it is in close contact with the vessel’s management company and is providing assistance where required as investigations continue.
The authority described the incident as a serious concern, stating it was “unprovoked” and “unjustifiable”, and emphasised that it constitutes a breach of international law.
The MPA added that all activity affecting international shipping must comply with international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and must not endanger the safety of seafarers or vessels at sea.
