Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam has taken delivery of three new quay cranes for its ECT Delta terminal in Rotterdam. The cranes arrived from Shanghai aboard the Zhen Hua 27 on 9 April.
The move forms part of a broader investment programme at the terminal.

According to ECT, the cranes will be remotely operated and will have a lifting height of 54 metres under the spreader, with a total height of 142 metres. They also feature an outreach of 25 containers wide, which the company said is sufficient to handle container vessels of 24,000 TEUs and above.
ECT said the addition would further expand its ability to serve ultra-large containerships.
The new cranes will be positioned on the south side of the ECT Delta terminal at the Amazonehaven.
ECT said the investment in the cranes sits within a wider package of upgrades at the Delta terminal. These include hybrid automated guided vehicles, hybrid and electric straddle carriers, automatic stacking cranes and related systems.
The company said the investment is intended to support further modernisation of the terminal and improve its long-term sustainability.
ECT added that, in the coming years, the terminal will increasingly switch to zero-emission equipment and that shore power facilities will also be installed.
The investment comes as ECT continues broader operational changes across its Rotterdam terminals, following the recent migration to a new terminal operating system at its Euromax facility.
