Striking office workers reach agreement with Montreal terminal operator

An unnamed Montreal terminal operator has signed a deal with striking office workers, bringing an end to a labour dispute that began last September.

In September 2025, operations at a significant segment of the Port of Montreal grounded to a halt as agents representing a key operator launched an unlimited general strike. The labour action threated to further complicate supply chains. The strike, initiated by personnel associated with an essential unnamed port operator, underscored longstanding concerns regarding working conditions and contract negotiations.

The port’s Cast and Racine terminals remained operational for vessels throughout the five-month strike by clerical staff.
