The Japanese Port of Nagoya is reporting to have handled 201,973 TEUs of foreign-trade containers in January 2026. This marked a 4% year-on-year increase in throughput in this segment and reflects the port’s first growth in two months.

The preliminary data released by Nagoya Port Authority shows that container throughput increased at the Tobishima Pier North Container Terminal. Throughput jumped 299.9% to 6,693 TEUs.
Tobishima Pier South Container Terminal recorded 22,754 TEUs – up 31.6% compared to the same period in 2025.
Tobishima Pier South Side Container Terminal handled 46,815 TEUs – an increase of 13.4%.
Nabeta Pier Container Terminal processed 95,243 TEUs representing an increase of 3.9%.
While in contrast, throughput at NCB Container Terminal fell sharply – dropping by 27% to 30,468 TEUs.
