Hutchison Ports Sohar and Westwell have introduced the first 15 Electric Container Trucks (e-trucks) at Sohar Port and Freezone, marking a significant step toward smarter, cleaner and more energy-efficient port operations. Each e-truck is powered by a high-capacity 282kWh battery with a range of up to 150 km.

The trucks support fast charging and fully unmanned five-minute battery swaps, enabling uninterrupted 24/7 operations and reducing turnaround times across the terminal.
Compared to conventional diesel trucks, the new e-trucks deliver zero emissions and much lower noise levels, while enhancing safety and operator comfort through intelligent driving assistance technologies and ergonomic cabin design. The vehicles are also engineered to support future upgrades toward autonomous driving capabilities.
Westwell’s e-trucks have already been successfully deployed in several countries, including Thailand, Peru, Pakistan and Egypt, demonstrating their reliability and suitability for large-scale port and logistics environments.
