The 1.8km-long cofferdam that will hold back the Panama Canal's Miraflores Lake is on track for completion in April. Miraflores Lake, the man-made lake between the Miraflores locks and Pedro Miguel locks will be held back by the backfilled cellular cofferdam. Once the cofferdam is finished, excavation of around 26 million cubic meters of material in the access-channel route can proceed as well as the construction of a permanent, USD70 million, clay-core, basalt-rock-filled dam.

Vahle, Germany has secured a large order for the Turkish container port Mardas located in the vicinity of Istanbul. The order is for diesel generator powered RTGs (Rubber Tired Gantry Cranes) to be modified and to connect directly to the existing electrical net.

International environmental consultancy ENVIRON has been appointed to conduct the Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) for the Port of Poti development on Georgia's Black Sea coast, the country's largest container freight port development. The proposed port will be developed, using a phased approach to align with the increasing demand, on 100ha of land north of the current port.
