Port & Terminal Technology USA 2027 takes to Houston for its 16th edition

The Port & Terminal Technology Conference & Exhibition is returning to Houston on 20–21 April 2027, marking the 16th edition of the specialist industry event.

Organised by MCI Media Ltd, Port & Terminal Technology USA 2027 will bring together senior professionals from ports, container terminals, equipment manufacturers, technology companies, engineering organisations and specialist service providers for two days of technical presentations, industry discussion, networking and exhibition.

The event has established a reputation for its focused, technical approach, providing a dedicated forum for professionals involved in the operation, maintenance, engineering, technology and development of modern ports and terminals.

A focused forum for the future of port and terminal operations

As ports and terminals continue to face increasing demands for productivity, resilience, sustainability, automation and operational efficiency, Port & Terminal Technology USA 2027 will provide a platform for the industry to share practical experience and explore the technologies and strategies shaping the next generation of terminal operations.

The programme will address key challenges and opportunities across areas including:

  • Container terminal productivity and operational efficiency
  • Terminal automation and emerging technologies
  • Equipment reliability, maintenance and lifecycle management
  • Terminal Operating Systems (TOS)
  • Cybersecurity and digitalisation
  • Cargo-handling technology and simulation
  • Port infrastructure and the impact of larger vessels
  • Electrification and environmental performance
  • Asset management and engineering
  • Data, connectivity and smart-port technologies
  • Future trends in port and terminal operations

The conference programme will feature more than 28 technical presentations, bringing together industry experts and technology leaders to share real-world experience, case studies, lessons learned and practical solutions.

Quality over quantity

Unlike large generalist maritime exhibitions, Port & Terminal Technology has deliberately maintained a specialist and highly focused format.

Previous editions have attracted approximately 150–200 industry professionals, creating an environment where delegates can engage directly with relevant decision-makers, technical specialists and solution providers.

The accompanying exhibition provides a complementary opportunity for technology and equipment suppliers to demonstrate their capabilities and meet representatives from ports and terminals in a focused environment.

“Our approach has always been about quality over quantity,” said Claire Instone, MCI Media Ltd.

“Port & Terminal Technology is designed specifically for the people responsible for making ports and terminals operate more efficiently, reliably and sustainably. By keeping the event focused and technically driven, we create an environment where meaningful conversations can take place between the people facing operational challenges and the companies developing the solutions.”

Returning to Houston

Houston provides a natural setting for the 2027 event, with the region’s significant maritime, port, logistics and industrial infrastructure making it an important centre for discussions around the future of terminal and port technology.

The organisers are currently working with industry stakeholders and are inviting Port Houston, ports, terminals, technology providers and other industry organisations to participate in the event and contribute to the technical programme.

Previous editions of Port & Terminal Technology in the United States have received support and participation from leading ports and terminal organisations, including Port of Virginia, PortMiami, South Carolina Ports, Georgia Ports Authority, Port of Baltimore, Port of Los Angeles, Port of Long Beach, Ports America and POMTOC, among others.

Opportunities for exhibitors and industry supporters

Companies providing equipment, technology, software, engineering, automation, cybersecurity, maintenance, asset management and other solutions to the port and terminal sector are invited to exhibit at the 2027 event.

The exhibition is intentionally designed to complement the technical conference, giving exhibitors access to a concentrated audience of relevant industry professionals rather than a broad, general trade audience.

Ports, terminals and industry organisations are also invited to become official supporting organisations, helping to shape the programme and contribute operational and technical expertise to the discussions.
