The weekly JP8 service, operated by CMA CGM, connects Sendai with Philippine gateways, calling at Manila South Harbour and Batangas Integrated Port.
The service, launched on 18 March, represents the first regular international shipping connection between Sendai and the Philippines in eight years.
Both Philippine ports are operated by Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI), DP World’s local partner, and serve as key entry and exit points for cargo flows.
The addition of the JP8 loop enhances throughput reliability and reduces transit times for prefabricated housing materials destined for export markets.
Glen Hilton, CEO & Managing Director, Asia Pacific, DP World, said: “Our long-standing partnership with Ichijo reflects how we work alongside our customers to solve complex supply chain challenges. By combining our global network with deep local expertise, we are delivering solutions that are efficient, reliable and tailored to their needs.
“The JP8 service strengthens connectivity between Japan and the Philippines, while leveraging our terminals in Manila South Harbour and Batangas as key access points. Together, we are enabling a more seamless flow of materials that supports Ichijo’s growth and delivery timelines.”
The service supports Ichijo’s manufacturing footprint in the Philippines, where components are produced by House Research Development (HRD) and managed through Nihon Sangyo, the group’s logistics and procurement arm.
By combining direct maritime services with landside and marine logistics, DP World is aiming to streamline cargo flows from port to production and onward distribution.
Its terminal operations in Manila and Batangas are integrated with inland transport solutions designed to ease congestion and improve supply chain visibility.
In Japan, DP World is also facilitating domestic cargo movements to regional outports, extending the efficiency gains across origin and destination networks.
