South Carolina Ports plans for 5% Container growth in FY2019

South Carolina Ports Authority Board of Directors have adopted a 2019 fiscal year financial plan that includes five percent pier container growth, USD280.8 million in operating revenues, USD42.9 million in operating earnings and capital expenditures of USD277.6 million.The plan projects 1.305 million boxes handled during FY2019, a five percent increase from the 1.24 million SCPA expects to handle in FY2018, ending June 30.

NWSA May 2018 import volumes increase

May imports at The Northwest Seaport Alliance reached their highest level since 2010 at 131,067 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units), marking a 0.7 percent increase from last May. At 114,227 TEUs, export volumes were down 11.2 percent from the prior year volumes but above the five-year average.

British Ports Association comments on new report on Northern ‘Free Ports’ strategy proposal

The British Ports Association has welcomed the renewed focus on role that ports play in regional and national UK economies in a new report on 'Supercharged Free Ports' published today.

The report highlights the opportunities of 'super charging' free ports to include enterprise stimulus. This is similar to the Association's 'port zoning' proposals, which could include enterprise, planning and consenting advantages for UK ports of all type and location.

DP World Media Statement - Djibouti

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 16 June 2018: It has been noted in some reports that DP World may consider an out of court settlement with respect to the dispute with the Djiboutian government over their illegal action in taking control of the port at Doraleh.

A DP World spokesperson said that the concession agreement remains in place, and the action taken by the Djiboutian government is subject to legal process in the International court of Arbitration in London.

"We await the outcome of this process. We remain committed to operating Doraleh port as per original agreement of the concession, and we will not consider any other alternative settlement option."
