India's private and "minor" ports have overshadowed their larger counterparts, posting double-digit growth in traffic in fiscal 2010-11 on the back of better infrastructure and value-added services, data shows. State-run Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB), which controls minor ports on the country's longest coastline, said traffic grew 12% with 231 million tonnes of cargo handled in 2010-11, compared with 206 million tonnes in 2009-10.
